TITLE: Head of Acquisitions
DEPARTMENT: Library
REPORTS TO: Director of Libraries
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for Acquisitions for UCC libraries. Reference desk duties.
DUTIES:
1. Provide leadership of the Acquisitions department.
2. Supervise and train Acquisitions staff.
3. Create/maintain/update Acquisitions Manual.
4. Work with budgeting system and library spreadsheets to keep track of accounts.
5. Reports Acquisitions statistics.
6. Work at Reference desk and assist library instruction program.
7. Work closely with Systems and Technical Services librarian on projects.
8. Other duties as assigned by Director of Libraries or designee.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
a. ALA-accredited MLS degree
b. At least two years acquisitions, budgeting or collection development experience (Academic Library preferred).
c. Collection Development experience preferred.
d. Reference and Instruction experience.
2. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
a. Spreadsheet experience essential.
b. Account management/vendor relations experience preferred.
c. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
d. Proven track record of innovation and resourcefulness.
e. Ability to work independently and in teams.
f. Able to work collaboratively with library staff and faculty.
g. Supervisory experience.
h. Analytical, problem solving, and multitasking skills.
