TITLE:    Part Time Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

DEPARTMENT:    Student Activities/Athletics

REPORTS TO:    Head Coach and Director of Student Activities/Athletics

RESPONSIBILITIES:    As Assistant Coach, you are responsible for reporting to the Head Coach and are responsible for the following:

1. Recruiting and maintaining the appropriate number of student athletes.

2. Maintaining a competitive won/loss record of at least .500 in your division and qualifying the team for the Region XIX Tournament.

3. Developing and maintaining the skill, discipline and integrity of team during games and practice through effective coaching.

4. Statistical reporting and public relations including, but not limited to calling administration with every score, and keeping NJCAA Coaches’ Website pages up to date.

5. You are charged with the knowledge of and shall adhere to the athletic polices and protocol of Union County College and the eligibility requirements and rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

6. Attending the Athletic Orientation and Coaches Council meetings.

7. Conducting yourself and the Team in such a manner as to reflect a positive image for the team and Union County College, both on and off the playing arena. You are charged with ensuring that both you and the members of the team conduct yourselves with a high degree of moral integrity as representatives of Union County College at all public appearances whether on or off campus.

8. Driving the team to and from road games in a safe manner. Ensuring compliance with school van policy.

9. The assistant coach may be responsible for notifying appropriate contacts if lost or late for a game, reporting of scores to the Dean of Students, keeping the NJCAA website current, submitting timely expense reports, following up with the AD communication will be via phone or in person. Voicemail will be for emergency only.

10. All the scores should be posted on the NJCAA website by noon the day following a game for the president’s review. The NJCAA website will be updated weekly with all stats.

11. Establish and maintain an active e-mail address.

12. Performing such other functions in connection with your position as may be assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Student Activities/Athletics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Three (3) years experience in coaching preferred at the college level.

2. Bachelor’s Degree.

3. Valid Driver’s License required.
