   About UCC - Public Safety Officer - Full Time - 7am-3pm shift   

TITLE:    Public Safety Officer - Full Time - 7am-3pm shift

DEPARTMENT:    Public Safety

REPORTS TO:    Director of Public Safety

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:    Monday-Friday 7am-3pm; Must be available to work on any campus.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:    Provides for the safety of students, faculty and staff and the security of college buildings and property by preserving law and order and enforcing regulations.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. Controls traffic including issuing traffic citations for parking violation to insure smooth flow of traffic.

2. Patrols campus by vehicle and foot patrol to insure security of college lots, buildings and property.

3. Provides directions and assistance to campus visitors.

4. Assists in evacuations during fire, bomb treats or other emergencies.

5. Prepares accident reports documentation details.

6. Reports traffic, safety and/or security infractions to proper authorities.

7. Operates two way radio as needed.

8. Provides emergency first aid and C.P.R. in the event of injury.

9. Performs all duties assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education:    High School graduate or GED equivalency required.

2. Experience:    Six months experience providing security service in an industrial, academic or service-oriented environment.

3. Must have and maintain a valid NJ driver’s license.

4. Must pass a background check and drug screening.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Good knowledge of college rules and regulations.

2. Good knowledge of campus building locations.

3. Knowledge of police report writing.

4. Knowledge of traffic control procedures.

5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and to follow detailed oral or written instructions.
