TITLE: Research Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Assessment, Planning, and Research
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Assessment, Planning, and Research
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Executive Director, Assessment, Planning, and Research, the Research Coordinator compiles data and information used in grant development and evaluation, institutional effectiveness, and outcomes assessment.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
1. Provides data and information used in the development of grant proposals as well as in grant evaluations.
2. Prepares requests to IT to create data files required for reporting grant information.
3. Conducts library and Internet literature and information searches.
4. Collects institutional effectiveness results and the use of results from departments and prepares an annual report.
5. Compiles student learning outcomes from courses and links them to academic programs and to the institution’s goals and objectives.
6. Collects the results and documented use of the results of student learning outcomes assessments and prepares an annual report.
7. Prepares and maintains assessment information on the APR office’s web pages.
8. Prepares standardized computer software, i.e., SPSS.
9. Constructs tables for the presentation of data in accordance with the American Psychological Association format.
10. Prepares in narrative form a written analysis and summary of data or assessment results.
11. Maintains effective working relationships with faculty and staff.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Assessment, Planning and Research.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education
a. Master’s degree in Educational Research, Psychology, Statistics, Sociology, or related subject area required.
2. Experience
a. At least one year of research experience is required preferably in an institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of education and work experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
3. Knowledge and Abilities
a. Ability to work independently, to organize and plan assignments to meet deadlines.
b. Must be skilled in the use of a Personal Computer.
c. Must be skilled in the use of statistical computer software, e.g., SPSS-PC, SPSSX, or SAS.
d. Must have a working knowledge of word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, presentation, internet and web-authoring software.
e. Must communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
f. Basic knowledge of assessment and evaluation a plus.
