   About UCC - Community College Concept   

Union County College is a member of the American community college movement, a unique and dynamic addition to the world's system of higher education. The nation's 1,321 community colleges bring the opportunities and values of higher education to nearly all population centers throughout the United States.

The community college movement has led to the democratization of America's higher educational systems, providing opportunities for higher education for people of all economic and educational backgroundscreating the broadest higher education system ever devised.

Community colleges provide comprehensive services, including universityparallel programs in the liberal arts and sciences, careeroriented programs, developmental and remedial studies, and a broad range of continuing education and community services geared to the specific needs of their communities.
