Welcome to the Freda and Robert N. Brown Paramedic Program webpage! This site has been developed to help answer your questions about furthering your education and EMS career. Union County College has been offering didactic training for paramedics since 1982. As one of the original training programs in the state, we offer a fast paced and challenging program that is up-to-date using the latest in simulation technology, best teaching philosophies, and highest quality instructors. Students are enrolled full-time while attending UCC. We have one of the highest pass rates to the NREMT exam.

Upon successful completion, students are awarded 32 college credits. The program is designed according to the Department of Transportation curriculum. It provides currently certified New Jersey State EMT’s with the academic knowledge and psychomotor skills necessary to enter the clinical component of the training. The clinical training portion of this program is conducted at sponsoring Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) hospitals and is independent from Union County College. Required clinical hours vary from sponsoring hospitals.

My goal as the director is to provide you with the skill set necessary to succeed in this exciting profession. Upon completion of clinical, you will have obtained the necessary certifications to obtain immediate employment. Our successes speak for themselves through testimony from our graduates and patients treated by graduates of our program.

I look forward to working with you in the future and wish you success in the future.

Professor McCarthy
