Associate in Arts Degree
The Physical Science program concentrates in the areas of physics, chemistry, or geology, with the necessary foundation in mathematics. Languages and electives in the liberal arts are included in the program.
Candidates for the Physical Science program must present two years of algebra, one year of geometry, trigonometry and both chemistry and physics as high school entrance credits.
All students enrolled in the Physical Science program must take a mathematics placement test. Students whose scores on the test are unsatisfactory may be required to take MAT 005 and/or MAT 133 and/or MAT 155. Students who are not placed in MAT 171 will be limited to a maximum of 15 credit hours during the first semester. They must also attend the summer session to complete MAT 172.
In addition tot he course requirements listed below, physics majors must add PHY 112-112 to the freshman program, and substitute PHY 201-202 for PHY 101-102 in their sophomore year.
