How to apply to Union County College and the Institute for Intensive English (IIE)
1. Go to the Admissions office at any of the three campuses (Cranford, Elizabeth, or Plainfield). Fill out an application and pay the application fee. On-line application:
2. If English is not your native language, you will receive a white card. The white card is your ticket to the ESL placement interview and exam.
3. Call or e-mail the Institute office for an appointment for an interview: (908) 965-6031, secretary - Joanna Kubas (English and Polish) or Lidia Montalvo (English and Spanish)
4. At your interview, an IIE faculty member will decide which placement test you should take: native language, basic, or advanced. You will make an appointment to take the test.
5. After the test, you will receive a letter telling you when to come back for your results. You will be able to register for courses at this time.
6. In order to register for courses you need to:
a) be prepared to pay tuition or have financial aid, and b) bring photo identification.
7. Go to the Counseling Center on any campus to register. If you have any questions, call or e-mail the Institute.
