More Information about the ESL Placement Test There are 3 different ESL tests. The instructors who give the interviews will decide which test you will take:
1) You cannot read or write in English: Native Language Test - You will write a composition in your native language. Time: ~60 min. 2) You can speak, read, and write a little English: Basic Test - You will write a composition in English and take a 50-question grammar test. Time: ~90 min. 3) You know a great deal of English and can speak English fluently: *Advanced Test - You will write an essay in English, and take a reading, grammar, and listening test. Time: ~2 hrs. 30 min. Students who need the Basic Test or the Native Language Test must take the test at the Elizabeth Campus or at the Plainfield Campus. [ Go to top of page.] |
