OUTCOMES

The projected outcomes for Training and Employment are:
  • Conduct outreach to 1,200 high school students to increase career awareness and exploration of healthcare careers and to pursue training in health career programs
  • 225 adults will complete EMT course, which serves as feeder to other programs
  • An additional 150 high school students will complete EMT course
  • 50 high school students will enroll in college courses through the Bridge Program
  • 450 college nursing students will benefit from tutoring, mentoring, and additional academic instruction designed to improve retention by 20-35% over grant period
  • 85-100 new students will be added to the LPN program
  • Graduating nursing students will achieve a 90-100% rate on licensure exam
  • 90% of those obtaining PN license will obtain employment in field within 3 months with projected annual earnings of between $35,000 and $40,000
  The projected outcomes for Capacity Building are:
  • Development of health careers information module
  • Revised nursing curriculum resulting in new evening/weekend division
  • Increase by 85-100 seats enrollment in practical nursing program
  • Hire 3-5 adjunct faculty, depending on semester
  • Hire 7 new tutors and mentors
  • Increase by 20-35% the retention in Practical Nursing Program
  • New equipment for practical nursing and EMT programs will be purchased
  • Increased outreach program materials for high school students and adults
  • Develop a curriculum proposal to facilitate articulation from LPN to RN and LPN to BSN
