Withdrawal from College
Withdrawal from all courses in which a student is enrolled in a given semester constitutes a withdrawal from College.
To withdraw from College a student must see his/her advisor or a counselor for an exit interview and completion of the process. No student may withdraw from the College in good standing without consulting a counselor and completing a special form stating the reason for withdrawing. Unless this form has been completed by the student and the counselor prior to leaving the College, the withdrawal is considered "unapproved" and will result in a final grade of "F" or "UF" in all classes.
The official withdrawal date is that on which the counselor signs the withdrawal form. Students who withdraw from class after the eighth week of a regular semester will have a grade of "F" or "UF" entered on their permanent record for all those courses.
Official withdrawal from classes or college cannot be completed by telephone. Withdrawal requests must be made in writing via certified mail with a brief statement including the reason for withdrawal, and the signature of the registered student. The student's current identification card and schedule should be enclosed, if available. Refund and withdrawal eligibility will be based upon the postmarked date on the envelope. This correspondence should be addressed to the Registrar's Office. Withdrawal from Developmental English or Developmental Math courses also requires the instructor's signature.

Withdrawal from Classes
A student who withdraws from class during the first week of the regular semester will not have those courses recorded on his/her permanent record.
A student who withdraws from classes after the 5th day of the regular semester and the end of the eighth week, providing there is no violation of academic integrity, will have that withdrawal recorded as a "W" as long as all appropriate forms have been filed.
In order to assist students, the College policy suggests that students withdrawing from class any time before the end of eight weeks must have a counselor/advisor signature on the withdrawal slip. Special Session withdrawal dates may differ.
Late Withdrawal
Students requesting a late withdrawal (a grade of W) after the last official posted date to withdraw and before the first date of the official final examination period will have a grade of F recorded on their transcripts unless a late withdrawal form is submitted and approved by the professor(s). Students requesting late withdrawals should submit a written statement of special appeal based on extraordinary circumstance with supporting documentation from a physician, employer, attorney, military official, etc. to the appropriate professor(s) for approval or disapproval. Students requesting a late withdrawal from a lab science course must get the approval and signature of both professors. If the professor( s) approves the late withdrawal, the form must then be sent by the professor(s) to the Registrar (who will forward a copy to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the department chair, and the student). Please be reminded that the statement of personal reasons for appeal will be treated confidentially. Please note: this form for one course only; students requesting withdrawal from the college must follow the policies as posted in the current Student Handbook and College Catalog.
R
equesting late withdrawals after the final grades have been assigned by the instructor will be treated under the Grade Change Policy.
Note that some courses do not run for the traditional 15 or 16-week semester. In all such cases withdrawal without penalty can only be accomplished prior to the dates listed for that semester. Check the course schedule book for exact dates.
A student should also be advised that withdrawal from a required Developmental mathematics or English course must be approved by their instructor or the Coordinator of Developmental Studies or Chairman of that Department. Withdrawal may constitute a failure to fulfill the requirements established by the Academic Evaluation Committee, and may result in dismissal from any other courses being taken concurrently.
