Global Logistics Associate Program
(48 hrs. classroom, 20 hrs. independent study)
The Global Logistics Associate (GLA) Certificate is a nationally recognized certification program that acknowledges the completion of rigorous coursework in logistics and supply chain for entry level positions. The American Society of Transportation and Logistics (ASTL) developed this program after an extensive industry needs assessment. The GLA provides a value-added certification for the supply chain industry and creates a knowledge baseline of stackable credentials for building a career pathway. This certification program focuses on the general knowledge of transportation/logistics and the associated functions necessary for the delivery of goods.
In New Jersey, where one in every ten jobs is found in the Transportation, Logistics, and Distribution (TLD) business sector, this 48-hour program prepares students to pursue the many careers in TLD.Program topics will include: Workplace Essentials, Supply Chain Overview, Transportation, Warehousing, Computer Systems Technology, and Safety. In addition to classroom instruction, students will have access to "Tucker," an online avatar learning program created by Polk College, Florida, to serve as a supplement to the GLA. This program provides students with an interactive, gaming-style learning experience. Tucker Stiles, the main character, walks students through supply chain management concepts as they complete games and quizzes to track success. Obtaining the GLA Certificate requires successful completion of a comprehensive exam After completion of this program, you will be ready to test for the Global Logistics Associates Certificate (GLA). Course fee include test fees. Prerequisites: HS Diploma, TABE 9th grade.
