New
Jersey Community College Consortium
--- A unique resource for the training of employees of New Jersey
businesses and organizations as well as training for re-entry to the workforce
statewide. A well-trained and highly skilled workforce is critical to New
Jersey’s future economic growth. ---
The New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and
Economic Development brings together the vast resources of the 19 New Jersey
community colleges for New Jersey companies and organizations to access, develop,
and receive workforce education and training for their current and emerging
workforce statewide.
The
Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development is unique in the United
States. It was founded in 2004 by the State’s community colleges to provide
coordinated one-stop statewide education and training services to businesses
and industries based on the
“New Jersey Community Colleges Compact”,
an Executive Order signed in 2003 that created a new statewide partnership
between the State of New Jersey and its 19 community colleges. The Compact
designates New Jersey’s community colleges as the preferred provider of
training and for workforce development and business attraction programs.
New Jersey Talent Networks
The Industry-Business Institute at Union County College is a training partner with the state of New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The governor announced the launch of six new Talent Networks in the following sectors of the business marketplace: Transportation, Logistics and Distribution; Life Sciences; Financial Services; Technology and Entrepreneurship; Healthcare and Advanced Manufacturing. A seventh network is planned for green jobs later this year.
These networks are vertically-focused, designed to connect job seekers with employers with education opportunities related to industry across the state. IBI at Union County College is among the training providers to provide the training necessary to put people to work in these industries.
