WebCT Web Browser Compatibility & Configuration
Follow the three steps below to achieve WebCT reliability.
- Use the correct browser.
- Check browser settings
- Install plugins if they are not already installed in your browser.
Step 1. Use a tested and approved web browser
There are known issues relating to how certain browsers interface with the various versions of WebCT. The browser that you use should be one that has been tested and known to run reliably with
WebCT Campus Edition (CE) 4.1, the current version in use at Union County College.
Check the listings below and make sure the computer(s) you are using have the supported browser browser installed. If you would like to check your browser, please visit the WebCT Browser Tuneup site.

Attention AOL users: It is recommended that you follow these steps when using WebCT:
- log into AOL as usual
- minimize the AOL window
- click into Internet Explorer or Netscape
- Log into WebCT
For Best Results: There are some additional steps you need to take to keep your AOL session from shutting down due to lack of perceived activity. Basically, you'll need to "fool" AOL's idle timer by: Creating a "private" chat room within AOL and leave the room open so that AOL will not ask you if you wish to disconnect while you minimized the AOL screen. (From time to time, you will need to respond to the message asking whether you want to stay online. To do this you must make AOL the active window and check for this message.) |
Step 3. Install plugins if they are not already installed on your computer.
