Distance Education - Communication Tools Tutorials

Each tutorial will explain and demonstrate the basic skills necessary for an online class. Depending on the type of course you have registered for will determine the WebCT tools that are available. To view the tutorials, you will need to:

enable the javascript in your browser (see browser compatibility to turn on)
make sure that the audio is turned up (some tutorials have audio)

The communication tools include discussion area, mail, and chat rooms.

	Discussions - Allows communication among course instructor and students through postings of electronic messages.
	Mail - Allows private messages, with or without attachments, to be sent from one course participant to another.
	Chat Room - Allows students to have real-time conversations with students in the same course or any other course. Can be used for online, interactive sessions such as tutorials or discussions.
	Whiteboard - A drawing tool that students may use during an online discussion. This tool allows users to type text, draw objects, insert graphics, and make modifications. Especially useful for drawing and viewing diagrams in real-time.
