Art History Resources on the Web

This mega-site covers art history from pre-historic periods to the twentieth century. It also has links to research sources, museums and galleries by country, online journals, and more.

Digital Imaging Project

DIP is a site devoted to images of European and North American architecture and sculpture from Classical Greece to Post-modern.

Web Gallery of Art: Artist Index

Links to images organized by artist. Covers Western art from 1200 to1700.

Art Images for College Teachers

Royalty free images of sculpture and architecture covering Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Web site for this New York City museum contains information on its permanent collection that includes art from Egypt, China, Japan, Europe, America, Pre-Columbian America, Africa, Greece, Korea, India and other countries. The time period ranges from pre-history through the twentieth century. Paintings, sculpture, architecture, drawings, prints, photographs, and decorative arts are all represented.
