Sites for Educators and Learners

The following sites are selected for their usefulness in helping students, faculty and other academic professionals sort through the many useful resources for education that are on the Internet. These sites can help you to find information about schools, universities, educational technologies, and education related research, including statistics. 

American Universities contains home pages for American Universities granting bachelor or advanced degrees.

American Universities by State contains a list of regionally-accredited U.S. universities, organized by state.

College Board Online  is the source for information about the SAT, but it also can help with  college planning, including financing a higher education and choosing a college.

Education Index is an annotated guide to the best education-related sites on the Web. Sites are sorted by subject and "life stage" for fast, easy searching.

ERIC- Educational Resources Improvement Center has abstracts of documents and articles in education from 1966 on. It also provides free searching through various ERIC search engines and full-text document order.

FinAid!: The SmartStudent Guide to Financial Aid  help you to find grants, scholarhips, govenment loans and military aid.

New Jersey Colleges and Universities provides the list of colleges and universities in New Jersey.

Peterson's Education and Career Center features interactive versions of Peterson guides to colleges and graduate and professional schools.

A Road map to the Web for Educators is a comprehensive annotated web sites organized into different subjects areas.

U.S. Department of Education   can be used as a starting point when searching for federal programs, statistics, and initiatives.

World Lecture Hall   is a classified list of links to examples of how the Internet can be used in instruction.

Yahoo Education Site is a comprehensive sub-directory of world wide educational sites, organized into catagories.

Distance Learning WWW Resources

American Distance Education Consortium  It includes resources  for those running distance education programs.

Distance Education Clearinghouse It is great for current news,  sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Extension

Distance Learning on the Net  It links to distance  education sites, along with upcoming events and conferences.

EDUCOM It is a high education consortium  site.

Penn State Distance Education It is one of the first online  providers and still one of the best.

United States Distance Learning Association  This site provides  the information on Federal and state distance education programs.

Western Governors University   This is the first university created online. It is created by the governors of America's Western states.

World Lecture Hall This site links to pages created by faculty worldwide who are using the web to deliver class materials. It is a great place to review syllabii, lecture notes, exams, etc., as well  as a great place for course design ideas.
