The list of scholastic requirements and personal qualifications are:
- Successful completion of twelve credits at U.C.C.
- A 3.5 or higher in course (s) to be tutored.
- Willingness to get involved
- Maturity
- Positive, non-judgmental attitude
- Two faculty or professional staff references, at least one from a faculty member in subject to be tutored.
- Ability to communicate clearly - both verbally and in writing.

- Empathy
- Self-confidence
- Time to give to program
- Patience

Training is provided and each tutor is responsible for the materials in the Academic Learning Center Staff Manual.
