February 27, 2007 - Owls End Season with Loss to Middlesex, 95-65
The Union County College Men's Basketball team lost to Middlesex County College in the second round of the GSAC Region XIX playoffs on Tuesday, 2/27 by a score of 95-65. The Owls were led by Ethan Williams with 15 points. Vinnie Darpino and Mohammad Shipman each added 12 points, and Tony Johnson scored 12 points. Union's final record for the season went to 13-19. They were 5-7 in the Region and Conference. The Owls had a good season despite losing much of their team throughout the year. With only one sophomore player leaving, the Owls will look forward to bouncing back with a strong season next year. February 24, 2007 - Men's Basketball: Owls Defeat Bergen Community College, 80-50

The Union County College Men's Basketball team defeated Bergen Community College in the first round of the GSAC Region XIX playoffs on Saturday, 2/24 by a score of 80-50. The Owls were led by Tony Johnson with 22 points. Alex Lamberty had 20 points, and Vinnie Darpino added 12 points. Union's record went to 13-18. They are 5-7 in the Region and Conference. February 21, 2007 - Men's Basketball: Owls Defeat Sussex County Community College, 81-58

The Union County College Men's Basketball team defeated Sussex County Community College on Wednesday, 2/21 by a score of 81-58. Halftime score was tied 32-32. The Owls were led by Ethan Williams with 23 points. Vinnie Darpino had 20 points, and Tony Johnson added 19 points. Union ended the regular season 12-18 overall. They went 5-7 in the Region and Conference. Playoffs are TBA at this point.
February 20, 2007 - Men's Basketball: Owls Fall to Middlesex County College, 83-77

On Sophomore Night, the Union County College Men's Basketball team lost to Middlesex County College on Tuesday, 2/20 by a score of 83-77. UCC trailed 44-41 at halftime. Coming into play, Middlesex was nationally ranked #2 in the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball. Despite the high ranking, UCC played Middlesex very tough and led by eight in the second half. However, they could not hold the lead and lost in the closing minutes. The Owls were led by Vinnie Darpino with 21 points. Ethan Williams and Alex Lamberty each added 12 points. Union's record went to 11-18. They are 4-7 in the Region and Conference. The next game is on Wednesday, 2/21 at home in the Cranford Gym against Sussex County Community College. Game time is 6:00PM. February 17, 2007 - Men's Basketball: Owls Defeat Bergen Community College, 59-56

The Union County College Men's Basketball team defeated Bergen Community College on Saturday, 2/17 by a score of 59-56. The Owls were led by Tony Johnson with 19 points. Mohammad Shipman added 16 points. Union's record went to 11-17. They are 4-6 in the Region and Conference. The Union County College Men's Basketball team lost to Lackawanna College on Thursday, 2/8 by a score of 85-73. The Owls were up at halftime 44-41, but could not hold off Lackawanna in the second half. The Owls were led by Ethan Williams with 16 points. Mohammad Shipman and Alex Lamberty each had 15 points in a losing effort. Union's record went to 10-17. They are 3-6 in the Region and Conference. The Union County College Men's Basketball team defeated Rockland Community College on Saturday, 2/3 by a score of 91-76. Ethan Williams led the Owls with 22 points. Tony Johnson had 16 points. Vinnie Darpino scored 14 points. Alex Lamberty added 13 points. Coming into play, the Owls leading scorer's were Vinnie Darpino averaging 12.5 points per game, Tony Johnson with 11.7 points per game, and Alex Lamberty also with 11.7 points per game. All three players surpassed their averages in this contest. Union's record went to 10-15. They are 3-6 in the Region and Conference. The next game is on Tuesday, 2/6 away at Essex County College. The Owls made a comeback in the second half, but could not take the lead from Brookdale. Tony Johnson led the Owls with 15 points. Cory Bell and Ethan Williams each added 12 points. January 20, 2007 - Men's Basketball: Owls Lose in Double Overtime, 79-78
The Union County College Men's Basketball team lost to Bergen Community College in double overtime on Saturday, 1/20 by a score of 79-78. The game went back and forth, but the Owls just couldn't hold Bergen in the second overtime. Alex Lamberty led the scoring with 25 points. Vinnie Darpino added 19 points. Mohammad Shipman had 17 points. Also, Ethan Williams had a strong performance and recorded a double-double with 16 points, and 10 rebounds. Union's record fell to 7-13. They are 2-4 in the Region and Conference. The next game is on Tuesday, 1/23 home in the Cranford Gym against Passaic County Community College. Game time is 7:00PM. January 18, 2007 - Owls Fall to The County College of Morris, 79-74
The Union County College Men's Basketball team lost to the County College of Morris on Thursday, 1/18 by a score of 79-74. The Owls were down 40-33 at halftime. The Owls were led by Alex Lamberty with 21 points. Vinnie Darpino added 19 points, and Ethan Williams had 17 points. Union's record fell to 7-12. They are 2-3 in the Region and Conference. The Union County College Men's Basketball team defeated Berkeley College on Tuesday, 1/16 by a score of 82-53. The Owls were up 40-31 at halftime, and just kept scoring in the second half, winning the game easily. The Owls were led by Ethan Williams with 25 points. Vinnie Darpino added 18 points, and Alex Lamberty put in 17 points. Coming into play on Tuesday, UCC had three players averaging double digits in points per game. Vinnie Darpino leads the team, averaging 11.5 points per game. Tony Johnson, who hasn't played recently due to an ankle injury, is averaging 11.4. Also, Cory Bell is adding 10.3 points per contest. The Union County College Men's Basketball team defeated Sussex County Community College on Tuesday, 1/9 by a score of 54-51. The Owls were led by Terelle Myers with 11 points, and Ethan Williams with 10 points. The real star of the game, according to UCC's Head Men's Basketball Coach, Joe Scott was Mohammad Shipman, who grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. According to Coach Scott, "There was no way we could have won if it were not for the hustle demonstrated by Mohammad Shipman." Union's record went to 6-10 with the victory. They are now 2-3 in the Region and Conference. The next game is on Saturday, 1/13 home in the Cranford Gym against Essex County College. The Owls were led by Alex Lamberty with 19 points, who shot excellent from the floor with 5 three point field goals. Tony Johnson also added 10 points, but Ocean County College just played too tough for UCC to defeat. Union's record fell to 5-10. They are 1-3 in the Region and Conference. UCC's Quadir Bellamy had a quiet game, but went into play ranked 34th in the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball points per game rankings, with 17.6 points per game. Union's record is now 4-8. December 14, 2006 - Owls Fall to Brookdale, 69-67
The Union County College Men's Basketball team lost on Thursday, 12/14 to Brookdale Community College by a score of 69-67. Brookdale scored the game winner with 0.7 seconds left on the clock in a heart-breaker for the Owls. The Owls were led by Vinnie Darpino with 20 points. Tony Johnson scored 12 points, and Cory Bell added 10 points. Union's record is now 3-8. They also fell to 1-2 in the Region and Conference. The Union County College Men's Basketball team defeated Raritan Valley Community College on Thursday, 12/7 by a score of 87-64 in the team's first Region and Conference game of the season. The win by the Owls was an important one, being that it was the first Region and Conference game. The Owls were led by Tony Johnson with 21 points, Ethan Williams with 17 points, and Quadir Bellamy with 16 points. Cory Bell added 12 points. While Vinnie Darpino put in 10 points, and played strong defense throughout the game along the way to Union's victory. Union's record went to 2-6. They are now 1-0 in the Region and Conference. The next game is on Saturday, 12/9 at home in the Cranford Gym against Salem Community College. Union County College's Men's Basketball team played the County College of Morris and lost by a score of 92-89. UCC led at halftime 45-40. Quadir Bellamy had 19 points, Cory Bell scored 16 points, Mohammad Shipman and Tony Johnson each had 14 points, and Vinnie Darpino had 12 points. It was a great game and UCC played very well, but missed many free throws. UCC is now 1-5. The next game will be Tuesday 12/5 at home against Lackawanna. Game time is 7:30PM.
November 21, 2006 - Owls Fall to Burlington, 74-71
The Union County College Men's Basketball team lost on Tuesday, 11/21, to Burlington County College by the score of 74-71. The Owls were behind at the half 38-33, and could not come back in the second half. Quadir Bellamy led the Owls with 15 points, while Cory Bell scored 12. With the loss, Union's record fell to 1-4 on the season. The next game for UCC will be against the County College of Morris away on Thursday, 11/30. November 18, 2006 - Owls Fall to Rockland
Suffern, NY: The Union County College Men's Basketball team lost on Saturday, 11/18, to Rockland Community College by the score of 87-77. The Owls were ahead at half -time 40-36, but could not hold off the surge by the Hawks. Union's record fell to 1-3 on the season. UCC will take on Burlington County College at the Cranford Gym on Tuesday 11/21.
November 14, 2006 - Owls Fall to USMAPS, 64-56
The Union County College Men's Basketball team lost to USMAPS (United States Military Academy Prepatory School) on Tuesday, 11/14 by the score of 64-56. UCC had a slim lead at the half 28-26, but lost the lead in the second half to a strong USMAPS team. Quadir Bellamy led the Owls with 22 points, while Jimmy Newsome and Vinnie Darpino each had 10 points. The Owls record is 1-2 on the season. The next game is on Saturday, 11/18 away at Rockland Community College.
November 11-12, 2006 - Owls Open Season in Maryland
The Union County College Men's Basketball team opened their season in Rockville Maryland this weekend in the Montgomery College Tournament.
On Saturday Union was defeated by Montgomery College 93-88 in a well played and hard fought game. Montgomery made 63 trips to the free throw line vs. only 36 for Union.
On Sunday UCC played The Community College of Baltimore County- Dundalk (Div II) and were victorious 82-78. Trailing at the half 37-32 the Owls played 20 minutes of outstanding basketball. Freshmen Quadir Bellamy 22 points Cory Bell had 19, Vinnie Darpino 17 and Tony Johnson 14.
UCC is 1 win and 1 loss on the season. The Owls host the United States Military Academy Prep School on Tuesday 11/16 at 6 PM in the Cranford Gym
