October 28 - Lady Owls Take Second Place in Region XIX Tournament

The Lady Owls Volleyball team almost pulled off an amazing upset on Saturday, 10/28 in the Region XIX double elimination tournament. Entering the tournament as the number two seed UCC's  defeated Passaic County Community College in two straight games. Next they defeated number one seed and reigning region and conference champion, Bergen Community College, two games to one. So Union was sitting pretty as the winner bracket champion. Bergen then defeated Passaic eliminating Passaic from the tournament. The Owls needed to defeat Bergen in one more match. The next match was a best of five. Union won the first two games and needed one more win for the Region XIX championship, but Bergen came charging back and won the next three games and to win the match. This set up a final best of three match for the championship. 
Bergen took that match in two straight games to reclaim the title.  Sophomore Jessica Jimenez and Freshman Corolla Barrena were named to the All-Tournament team.
 
Union completed the season with 9 wins and 10 losses. The 9 wins is a major improvement over last year's 4 victory total in the program's inaugural season. 


October 25 - Lady Owls Win Last Home Game of the Season, 3 - 1

The Union County College Volleyball team won on Wednesday, 10/25 over Bergen Community College by the score of three games to one. The scores were 30-25, 22-30, 30-27, 30-28.  The Lady Owls looked pumped up for their last home game of the season as they won against a tough Bergen team.  Freshmen Corolla Berrena had 34 assists, 3 digs and 3 aces, Freshman Dana Reilly had 11 kills, Sophomore Jessica Jimenez added 6 kills and 2 blocks. Union's record is now 7-8 on the season UCC will play in the Region XIX Tournament on Saturday 10/28 at Passaic County Community College. The three team round robin tournament games begin at 10 AM. UCC is the number 2 seed with Bergen number 1.

October 17 - Lady Owls Victorious
The Lady Owls were back on track on Tuesday night besting Monroe College in the Bronx, New York. It was a three game sweep by scores of 30-18, 30-24, and 30-11. Union improved their record to 5 wins and 7 losses. The 5 wins represents the most in a season for this upstart program which began last Fall. Next up for the Lady Owls is a game against Harcum College in Brynmawr, PA. The game is Saturday, 10/21, at 1 PM.

October 13 - Lady Owls fall as Passaic Avaenges Loss
The UCC Women's Volleyball team lost to Passaic County Community College on Friday night 10/13 in Paterson. The scores were 14-30, 26-30, 30-28, and 21-30. Corola Berrena lead the Lady Owls with 7 kills, 12 digs, 12 assists and 5 aces. Jessica Jimenez had 7 kills and 4 digs while Jackie Hernandez added 7 kills and three blocks. Union's record dropped to 4-7 on the season and 2-3 in the Conference. The next game is at Monroe College in the Bronx NY tomorrow, 10/17 at 7 PM.

October 10 - Lady Owls Sweep Passaic

The Lady Owls swept Passaic County College on Tuesday  3 games to 0 on Oct. 10 .  The scores were 30-19, 30-25, 30-28. UCC's record improved to 4-6 and 2-2 in the Conference and Region. The next game is on Friday 10/13 at 7:00PM at Passaic.  UCC is 2-0 against Passaic so far this season and will look to win their third match against Passaic on Friday in Paterson.

October 4 -  Lady Owls play to season's largest home crowd
The Lady Owls played to the largest home crowd of the season on Wednesday, 10/4 but lost the match 3-0 despite playing well in front of their loyal fans.  The scores were 17-30, 23-30, and 17-30. The Lady Owls' record fell to 3-6 and 1-2 in the Conference and Region.  The next game is on Tuesday 10/10 at 7:00PM at home against Passaic.  UCC will look to repeat its early success having defeated Passaic 3 games to none back on September 26 in Paterson.

October 3 -----Lady Owls Face Rival Bergen CC tonight!
The Lady Owls traveled to The Borough of Manhattan Community College last night and lost in 4 games. The scores were 17-30, 19-30, 30-22 and 20-30. Union's record fell to 3-5  but  remained 1-1 in the Conference and Region. Tonight's contest against rival Bergen County Community College promises to be exciting. Come out and support the Union County College as they battle for a piece of first place.Game time is 7 PM. Free pizza and soda will be offered after the game to the first one hundred fans.

October 1 ----Lady Owls Fall Short - 2 Games & Pizza on tap this week
The Lady Owls volleyball team lost three close games on Saturday in Scranton Pennsylvania to Lackawanna College.The scores were 28-30, 29-31 and 27-30. UCC fell to 2-4 on the season but remains 1-1 in the Conference and Region.The Lady Owls travel to Borough of Manhattan Community College on Tuesday, 10/3. Game time is 6 PM.
The next home game is Wednesday at 7 PM vs. Bergen Community College. Free Pizza and soda will be given to the first 100 fans. Come out and support the Owls. A win Wednesday night will place them in a first place tie in the Conference and Region.
September 27 -----

The UCC Women's Volleyball team staged a huge comeback last night and won their second match in as many days defeating Lehigh Carbon Community College. Lehigh Carbon looked impressive early, winning the first two games, 32-30 and 34-32.  Games 3, 4, and 5 were all won by the Lady Owls, 30-26, 30-13, and 15-9 respectively.  The Lady Owls played extremely well and were all smiles as they improved to 2-3 on the year, and remained 1-1 in the Region and Conference. Union's next game is Saturday  9/30 at 1:00PM away against the Bronx Community College.

September 26 -----Lady Owls Win Their 1st Match at Passaic
Trailing 29-26 in the first game against Passaic County Community College the UCC women's volleyball team staged a comeback and won 32-30 in game one of the best of five. Riding this momentum into game two Union held off Passaic's late rally and won 30-28. With the third game tied at fifteen, Union finally broke the Panther's back and opened up a large 29-17 lead before winning 30-22. The three game sweep was the first win of the season for the Owls who are now 1-3  and 1-1 in the Conference and Region. Tonight Union will host Lehigh-Carbon at 7 PM in the Cranford gym. Come out and support the Lady Owls!!

September 23-----
The Lady Owls Volleyball team gave it their all in the first home game of the season on Saturday 9/23, but came up just short in a best of 5 game marathon that lasted well over two hours.Union was down 10-2 in the first game and came back to win 30-27. Harcum College (Div II) from Brynmar PA  then took the next two games 25-30 and 23-30. Union took the fourth game 30-28 and then dropped the deciding game 15-13. Union dropped to 0-3 on the season and remained at 0-1 in the conference and region. The Owls will try to even their conference/ region record tomorrow night in Paterson against the Passaic County Community College Panthers. Game time is 7 PM.

September 21 -----
The Lady Owls Volleyball team traveled to Schnecksville, PA last night and came up short in a non-conference match-up. Union lost the best of five match 3 games to none. The scores were 26-30, 27-30, and 17-30. Union is now 0 wins and 2 losses on the season. Tomorrow,  Saturday 9/23, the Owls will oppose Harcum College (Div II) in their home opener. Game time is noon at the Cranford Gym.
 
September 20 -----
The UCC Owls traveled to Paramus on September 20 and lost a thrilling match to Bergen 3 games to 2. The game scores were 30-24, 24-30, 24-30, 30-26, and 11-15.
Union fought hard and made a great comeback in the fourth game to force the fifth and deciding game.
 
On September 21 the Owls travel to Pennsylvania to face Lehigh-Carbon Community College. Game time is 6 PM.
