Sharon Kukal Almeida-Class of 1997, Women’s Basketball

Sharon was a Kodak and NJCAA All-American, All-Region and All-Conference player. Sharon was named player of the year and won the Ben Johnson Award for Academic Excellence in the State of New Jersey. Sharon held the National Rebounding Record in 1998. Sharon’s team won the Regional and GSAC Tournament and appeared in the NJCAA National Tournament in Maryland two years in a row. Sharon graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology on an Athletic Scholarship.

Raqia Johnson-Class of 1996, Women’s Basketball

Raqia was a Kodak and NJCAA All-American, All-Region, and All-GSAC player. Raqia scored a total of 1195. Raqia Was the MVP of the Region 19 Tournament and Player of the Year in New Jersey. Raqia’s team won the Regional and GSAC Tournament and appeared in the NJCAA National Tournament in Maryland. She was named Star-Ledger Athlete of the week on numerous ocassions and led the State in scoring averaging 24.5 points a game.
