Wednesday February 24, 2010: Lackawanna 75- UCC 67
The Lady Owls finished their season with a 75-67 loss to Lackawanna College in the first round of playoffs. Union had built a 32-27 lead at halftime with scoring from Waliyaah Newman who posted 14 points, 15 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 assist, Lori Nieves contributed 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists, Kendra Johnson added 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal, and Valencia Patrick finished with 12 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds. The Ladies end their post season run with an overall record of 12-12 and will look forward to strengthening their program for next season.

Thursday February 18, 2010: The Women End Season On Down Note.
The Women's Basketball Team lost a very close game to Manor College 57-59. The Owls were leading by 2 points 32-30 at Halftime. Kendra Johnson had 17 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds, Valencia Patrick had 12 points, 2 steals, and 4 rebounds, Waliyaah Newman added 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 steals, and Tasza Carter contributed 8 points, 1 steal, and 1 assist. The Owls finished their regular season with an overall record of 12-11, and 10-8 in Region XIX. They are looking forward to beginning a long playoff run next week.

| Sunday February 14, 2010: Owls lose to Falcons.
The Women's Basketball Team lost 61-66 to Lackawanna College. The Owls trailed the Falcons at halftime 34-31 even though Waliyaah Newman scored 16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block, Lori Nieves scored 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal, and Amira Sallie added 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists. The Owls are now 12-10 overall, 10-7 in the Region and 8-2 in the Conference. The Conference Champion Owls will complete their regular season on Thursday February 18, 2010 at 5:00pm, Sophomore Night, in Cranford against Manor College. They will be moving on to play for a 4th straight Regional Championship.
Saturday February 13, 2010: Women Win By 3 To Secure Championship.

The Lady Owls squeaked out a win over Burlington County College 86-83, despite trailing 41-33 at halftime. Darnae Beverly had 19 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks, Amira Salley added 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 blocks, and Kendra Johnson finished with 25 points, 21 in the second half, and 3 steals. Kendra is also just 114 points from scoring 1000 points in her college career. The Lady Owls are 12-9 overall 10-6 in the region, and 8-2 in the conference, clinching the conference Championship. The Lady Owls have now won The Garden State Athletic Conference Championship 4 years in a row, setting a new record in the Women's Basketball program for Union County College. They will travel to Lackawana College on Sunday February 14, 2010, before wrapping up their regular season on Thursday February 18, 2010 against Manor College at 5:00pm for Sophomore Night.

The Women will play Manor College on Thursday February 18, 2010 at 5:00pm in Cranford, this game was originally scheduled for February 6, 2010.

The Women's Basketball Team scored a 91-70 win over Essex County College in Newark. The Owls held a 43-34 lead over the Wolverines at halftime. Lori Nieves had 28 points, 6 steals, and 5 assists, Kendra Johnson had 22 points, 8 steals, and 3 assists, and Waliyaah Newman finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. The Owls are now 11-9 overall, 9-7 in Region XIX, and 7-2 in the conference. The game against Manor College has been postponed to a later date, and they will travel to Lackawanna College on Thursday February 11, 2010 for a 6:00pm game.
Saturday January 30, 2010: Lady's win.
The Union County Lady Owls won a very competitively played game 88-78 over Delaware Tech. & Community College. The Owls held a 44-26 lead over Del. Tech. at halftime. Kendra Johnson had 22 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals, Lori Nieves had 20 points, 9 steals, and 4 rebounds, and Darnae Beverley had 18 points and 7 rebounds. The Owls are now 10-9 and 7-2 in the conference. They will travel to Essex County College on Tuesday February 2, 2010 for a 5:00pm game.

Union County College enjoyed a 85-43 win over Raritan Valley Community College. The Owls held a commanding 43-24 halftime lead; from Kendra Johnson who had 22 points, 7 rebounds, 8 Assists, and 8 steals, Darnae Beverley had 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals, Lori Nieves contributed 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Tasza Carter added 11 points and 5 rebounds. The Owls are now 9-10 overall and 5-4 in the conference, with 5 regular season games left to play. They will Travel to Delaware Tech. & Community College on Saturday January 30, 2010 for a 1:00pm match.
Tuesday January 26, 2010: Lady Owls Fall To Bears.
The Lady Owls fell to Harcum College 96-68, after holding a 43-26 lead at halftime. Lori Nieves had 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals, Darnae Beverley had 15 points, 20 rebounds, and 1 steal, and Kendra Johnson contributed with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. The Owls are now 8-10 overall and 5-4 in the conference. They will host Raritan Valley Community College on Thursday January 28, 2010 in the first game of a Women's/Men's doubleheader, tipoff is at 5:00pm in Cranford.

Union County college lead 42-34 at halftime on Mercer County College. They continued their focus in the second half, determined to maintain the that lead. The Owls won over the Vikings 79-81 in an exciting match-up in Cranford. Tasza Carter had 21 points and 4 assists, Lori Nieves had 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists, Darnae Beverley finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Waliyaah Newman had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 1 blocks. The Lady Owls are now 8-8 overall, 6-5 in the Region, and 5-2 in the conference. The game on Saturday January 23 at 12:00pm has been canceled, they will travel to Harcum College on January 26, 2010 for a 6:00pm game.

The Owls secured a much needed win over the Titans of The County College of Morris 72-42. The Owls had a 33-23 lead that they were able to build upon. Kendra Johnson had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 11 steals, Valencia Patrick contributed 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals, and Lori Nieves finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. The Owls are now 8-7 and 6-2 in the conference. The will play in the second game of a Men's/Women's double header on Thursday January 21, 2010 at 8:00pm.
Sunday January 17, 2010: Owls Lose Second Game of Tournament.
Union County College Lost the second game in a row at the Community College of Rhode Islands Tournament to Genesee 85-103. At Halftime the Owls held a 2 point 43-41 lead over Genesee. Kendra Johnson had 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals, Lori Nieves had 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Waliyaah Newman had 14 points, 5 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks, and Tasza Carter finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. The Owls return home on Tuesday January 19, 2010 to challenge the County College of Morris with a record of 7-7 overall and 5-2 in the conference, tipoff is at 5:00pm.
Saturday January 16, 2010: Owls drop First Game Of Tournament.
The Owls lost the first game of the two a two day tournament to the Community College of Rhode Island 63-66, in Rhode Island. The Owls held a 38-31 lead at halftime, but CCRI continued to pressure UCC, and winning the first game. Kendra Johnson had 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals, Tasza Carter had 13 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals, and Waliyaah Newman finished with 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 blocks. The Owls are now 7-6 overall.
Saturday January 9, 2010 Owls drop game to Mustangs.
The Lady Owls had a difficult time gaining momentum when they visited Monroe College. At half time the Mustangs controlled the game with a 30-40 lead over the Owls. UCC played hard in an effort to erase the deficit but, when the game was finished they trailed 62-85. Kendra Johnson had 13 points and 4 rebounds, Waliyaah Newman had 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks, Lori Nieves finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals, and Tasza Carter contributed 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. The Lady Owls are now 7-5 overall and 5-2 in the conference. They will travel to the Community College of Rhode Island tournament on Saturday and Sunday January 16 and 17, 2010.

The Lady Owls added a win to their record with a 93-22 score over Salem County County. Waliyaah Newman had 18 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks, Tasza Carter also scored 18 points, 4 steals, and 2 assists, Valencia Patrick had 15 points, and 1 steal, Kendra Johnson had 12 points, 6 steals, and 4 rebounds, and Amira Salley had 11 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 blocks. The Lady Owls are now 7-4 and 5-2 in the conference. They are traveling to Monroe College on Saturday January 9, 2009.

The Owls are now 6-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference, they will travel to Salem County College on Thursday January 7, 2010 for a 7:00pm tip off.
Tuesday December 22, 2009: Owls Drop Another Game

The Ladies Basketball Team lost by 3 to Delaware Tech. & Community College. The Owls were just out of reach of the victory losing 66-71. Kendra Johnson had 26 points (6 3 point shots), 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists, Waliyaah Newman had 10 points and 4 rebounds, and Lori Nieves had 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. The Owls head into the holiday break 6-3 overall, 4-1 in the conference, and 5-3 in the region. They will meet Harcum College on Tuesday January 5, 2010 in Cranford at 8:00pm.

The Owls won over the County College of Morris 76-53. Kendra Johnson had 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 steals, Valencia Patrick had 15 points and 5 assists, and Lori Nieves had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. UCC now 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference will travel to Mercer County College on Tuesday December 15, 2009 for a 6:00pm game.

The Owls played a rough game against Lackawanna College winning 70-63. The Owls held a commanding lead at point, but the Falcons fought back to tie the game during the second half. The Owls regrouped to take their 4th conference win. Valencia Patrick had 20 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds, Kendra Johnson had 15 points and 10 steals, and Tasza Carter finished with 13 points and 4 rebounds. The Owls were in positive numbers all game until the last 5 minutes when the Wolverines started challenging UCC. Valencia Patrick had 18 points, 1 steal, and 1 assist, Kendra Johnson had 16 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds, Darnae Beveley had 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals, and Amira Salley put up 9 points and 7 rebounds. The 3-1 Owls will challenge Burlington Community College on Saturday December 5, 2009 at 12:00pm in Cranford.

The Lady Owls recorded a win over Raritan Valley Community College 64-52. Scoring for UCC were Lorie Nieves with 14 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals, Darnae Beverley who had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals, Valencia Patrick contributed with 13 points, 9 steals, and 5 assists, and Tasza Carter with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. The Lady's are now 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Division and will play Tuesday December 1, 2009 against Essex County College in Cranford at 5:00pm.

The Lady Owls begin the 2009-2010 basketball season with 2 top returners from the 2008-2009 NJCAA Championship Team. Both Lori Nieves and Sondra Parin made significant contributions to the huge success the Lady Owls garnered last season. Also, transferring in, is the very talented shooting guard, Kendra Johnson. The Lady Owls also have 7 very talented & ambitious freshmen who will prove to add impact to returning class.
The Lady Owls finished the 2008-2009 season ranked 5th in the nation and is ranked 25th in the NJCAA pre-season poll rankings. Last season, not only did the Lady Owls go undefeated during the regular season, winning the GSAC & Region 19 Championships mark the programs third year in a row winning these titles. Going undefeated had never been done in the history of the UCC Lady Owls basketball program! Following such a tremendous season, the 2009-2010 Lady Owls will embark on the challenge of upholding such past success as they begin their journey of a attempting to 4-peat as GSAC & NJCAA Region 19 Champions.
July 2009:
Three members of the Union County College Women’s Basketball team have signed National Letters of Intent for the upcoming season. Nicole Lilenfeld has signed to play for Long Island University/C.W. Post in Brookville, NY, Courtney Larsen signed with Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX and Bobbi Van Fleet has signed to play for Nyack College in Nyack, NY. Four other members of the Women’s Basketball team are also moving on to play basketball & continue their education. Martyna Ruminska will attend Rutgers University in Newark NJ, Mia Davila & Kianna Williamson will all attend New Jersey City University in Jersey City, NJ in the Fall of 2009. All seven ladies contributed to the 3rd consecutive GSAC and Region 19 Championships this past basketball season at UCC. They also contributed to the 1st ever undefeated season for the UCC Women’s Basketball program with a 27-0 regular season record.
Bobbi, selected 1st Team All Region 19 and 1st Team All Conference, contributed 291pts, 287rebounds, & 65steals in just 1 season. Courtney contributed 219pts, 93rebounds, 77assist & 58steals in just 1 season as well. Additionally, the remaining 5 ladies have posted impressive stats during their 2-year stint here at UCC: Nicole, selected 2nd Team All Conference and 3rd Team All Region 19, contributed 350pts, 132steals, 282assist, & 95rebounds, Martyna contributed 543pts, 62steals, 114assist, & 162rebounds, Kianna contributed 326pts, 34steals & 184 rebounds, Kamesha contributed 98pts, 51rebounds, 35assist, & 21steals. Mia contributed 65pts & 111rebounds. Congratulations to all of the ladies & we wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
