   Student Services - Transfer Services   

Transfer Services at Union County College is committed to assisting Union County College students with transfer to a four-year institution. Transfer services includes assistance in enrolling in one of the Dual/Joint Admission programs as well as informing students of Articulation Agreements and transfer opportunities with four-year institutions of higher education.  Students are offered guidance in the selection of programs for transfer, in planning their educational career and with transfer upon the completion of their AA or AS degrees.  In the Counseling Services Transfer Center resources available to students includes college and university catalogues, as well as computerized scholarship and college/university search tools.  Students are taught to use the NJTransfer web sites to assess the transferability of classes to four-year New Jersey colleges and universities, and to plan their educational curriculum at Union County College.  Students are encouraged to attend Transfer Workshops, Transfer Fairs, and On-site Instant Decision Days to prepare for a seamless transfer upon the completion of a Union County College degree.

TRANSFER COUNSELING SERVICES

The Transfer Services Counselors assist students in the transfer process to a four-year college/university.  Transfer Counseling Services provides the necessary tools for students to make an informed decision in the choice of a four-year college or university, as well as to assist students in the search and application process.  For more information, contact a Transfer Services Counselor in the Counseling Services Department, Cranford campus.  up

DUAL/JOINT ADMISSION PROGRAMS

Union County College has Dual/Joint Admission Agreements with Kean University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Georgian Court University,  New Jersey City University, Montclair State University, Rutgers University, and New Jersey Institute of Technology.  Students in selected programs who meet the necessary criteria are eligible to participate in these programs.  Students should contact a Transfer Services Counselor to discuss these opportunities during their first semester at Union County College. Dual/Joint Admission Agreements may be changed or revised.  Students should see a Transfer Services Counselor to receive current information.  up

ARTICULATION AGREEMENTS

Union County College has Articulation Agreements in place with many colleges and universities.  Articulation Agreements are formal agreements of transfer between Union County College and these colleges/universities.  Some agreements detail exact course equivalencies while others are more general.  Students should contact a Transfer Services Counselor to discuss these agreements during their first semester at Union County College.  Articulation Agreements may be changed or revised.  Students should see a Transfer Services Counselor to receive current information.  up

UNION COUNTY COLLEGE-RUTGERS UNIVERSITY DUAL DEGREE PROGRAM

A select group of students, who applied to Rutgers University while high school seniors, have been offered the opportunity to participate in the Union County College Rutgers University Dual Degree Program.  Students in this program receive guidance in planning their educational program at Union County College, as well as in their eventual transfer to Rutgers University.  Dual Degree Program students should meet with a Transfer Services Counselor to obtain the necessary information to progress towards their educational goals.  up

WEB RESOURCES

Union County College students should visit the Counseling Services Transfer Center to learn of the latest web resources available to plan a transfer to a New Jersey college/university upon completion of an Associate's degree.  Students wishing to transfer to a New Jersey College or University should utilize the NJ Transfer (www.njtransfer.org) website to determine Recommended Transfer Programs and course equivalencies.

Discover, an online computerized search engine, assists students by helping them to research various colleges and universities according to location, majors, careers, etc. Students may also use Discover to research numerous scholarship opportunities including their qualifications and availability. TRANSFER WORKSHOPS

Transfer Workshops are offered on all three campuses at Union County College.  At these workshops students are provided with information on Dual/Joint Admission Programs and Articulation Agreements.  The transfer process is outlined for students and students receive guidance in the steps necessary to successfully transfer upon the completion of an Associate's degree.  Transfer resources available to students are described and various materials are distributed that will assist students in transferring to a four-year college/university.  up

TRANSFER FAIRS

Transfer Fairs are held on the Cranford campus to enable Union County College students to plan transfer upon completion of an Associate's degree.  These fairs provide the opportunity for students to meet with representatives from four-year colleges and universities to discuss the programs and the application process.  Representatives also provide students with scholarship information and details on campus life at the college or university.  up

ON-SITE INSTANT DECISION DAYS

During the Fall and Spring semesters, graduating students are offered the opportunity to meet with representatives from various colleges/universities in order to apply for instant decision admission.  Representatives assess students for admission to their individual school and discuss course transfer and scholarship opportunities with graduating students.  Students may register for on-site instant decision days in Counseling Services on the Cranford campus.  up

FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY RESOURCES

Four-year colleges and universities information is available in the Counseling Services Transfer Center.  These include individual college catalogues, individual college videotapes, transfer scholarship information, transfer guides, directories of colleges and universities throughout the United States, as well as computerized resources.  up

APPLICATIONS FOR FOUR-YEAR COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

The Counseling Services Transfer Center has a large supply of applications for colleges and universities throughout the United States.  Applications for school's of interest that are not on file will be obtained upon student request.  up

ASSISTANCE WITH APPLICATIONS AND THE TRANSFER PROCESS

Union County College Transfer Services Counselors are available to assist graduating students with the transfer process. Students desiring assistance with any aspect of the transfer process should meet with a Transfer Services Counselor.  up
