Favorite Class at Union:
English 101 and 102
Why did you choose Union?
I was new to the country and had to search for a college to pursue a career so that I can continue to stay in this country. In my search I approached many colleges and I found Union County College as the most helpful in guiding me to enroll and tell me about the processes. Thanks to one professor in Elizabeth, I was guided every step of the way in enrolling at the college and understanding my course in the college.
What is your fondest memory so far at Union:
Receiving the Best New Member award from Phi Theta Kappa during the spring 2013 Induction Ceremony.
What has sparked your interest in wanting to pursue this degree?
I have always been interested in Technology but my bigger passion is Education and Teaching. Therefore understanding the job market in US, I am studying technology so that one day I can become a professor.
What kind of job do you see yourself doing?
I would work as a Business Analyst post bachelors degree, where I would act as liaison between the client and the software development team. This would give me a lot of experience both in business terms and also with regards to the technical knowledge as to systems development. Once I gain enough experience I definitely want to come to the field of education and work with the next generation.

Interesting fact about yourself: I have gone on a Motorcycle rally to the world's highest motor-able road - The Khardungla Pass in Himalayas, India. I believe travel is a great teacher and one can understand about oneself and the world through travel.

What is the biggest adjustment you had to make coming to college:
Just fresh from India, I had no idea how the US education system works. I had to Google the meaning of GPA and credits. Secondly I really had to understand the culture and learn to make friends, however Phi Theta Kappa has been a wonderful stepping stone for me to settle down in this country.
Career or further education Goals:
I want to complete my Bachelors in Information systems and then pursue my Masters in Education while I work in the field of Business Analysis.
What else we ought to know about you?
I like building relationships and believe in working hard. That's what gives me the courage to take challenges like coming back to school after quitting a growing career in India. I also believe that everything in life can be achieved if I am ready to give the hours required to pursue it.
How has Union County College changed you as a person/ what did you take the most from being a student at UCC?
Three things come to my mind about Union County College: simplicity, caring professors and equal opportunities. All three things I have personally experienced here in Union County College and I can say that not many times in my personal or professional experiences I have seen a place where all get a chance to make it.

I owe a lot to Union County College and regardless of what I get or not get going further, Union County College will have a special place in my heart and the wonderful memories will remain in my mind.
