Meet Carlos Daza

Computer Information Systems and Technology
Rahway, NJ

Age: 21

Are you a member of any club or student group?: Due to my expenses, I didn’t have the time to join a club like I wanted to. I’m working at the Cheesecake Factory and I’m the Webmaster at Tri-State Iron Works in addition to being the Webmaster’s right hand here at Union in College Relations.

Favorite Class at Union: All the CIS and CSI classes really. It is quite amazing what you can do with a computer; it is engineering without physical limits.

Why did you choose Union?: I didn’t want to jump into student loans and go to college with a large tuition without figuring myself out and what I wanted to be first.

What is your fondest memory so far at Union?: When I created and presented an interactive animation in my programming class. I managed to entertain the class with suspense, excitement, and saturated their minds with sounds and special effects. I got excellent feedback on my presentation.

Interesting fact about yourself: I am very active and write fitness programs for friends free of charge.

What is the biggest adjustment you had to make coming to college?: Working 2-3 jobs to pay for my expenses and being a full-time student. Nothing is impossible; time management was the key. I managed to find a balance and still have a social life.

Career or further education Goals: After Union, I want to go to either Rutgers or NJIT and continue in my field of study, eventually branching off into cyber-security.

Is there anything else we ought to know about you?: Eventually I want to get my Masters in Cyber-Security from Steven’s Institute of Technology and join the United States Air Force and work for the Department of Homeland Security, DEA, FBI or CIA.
