Create a Future in Interior Design

Tuesday, January 08, 2013

If you enjoy attractive spaces and want to acquire the basic knowledge to beautify your own home or to help others, consider the interior design classes offered through Continuing Education. Not everyone has the creativity or knowledge to design spaces and there is a need for professionals to help create functional yet beautiful interiors. These non-credit classes are taught by a professional interior designer, Keith Johns, who will help you develop the skills to foray into this field.

Introduction to Interior Design and Planning is a 32 hour class which will teach design principles, how to develop creative concepts to final product, and how to communicate through drawings such as floor plans. This course meets on Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:00 pm from January 24th - May 16th and tuition is $299.

Learn the basic theory and fundamentals of color, the different uses of lighting and basic lighting design through Color and Lighting. This is a 20 hour class which meets Tuesdays from 6:00 - 8:00 pm from January 22nd - April 2nd. In another class, Materials, Fabric, Wallcovering, Flooring, Window Treatment and Accessories, you will learn all about the applications of different elements in interior spaces. This class meets Thursdays from 8:10 - 10:10 pm from January 24th - May 16th. The tuition for each of these courses is $199.

Students can take multiple classes to receive a certificate in Interior Design and the details are on pages 32 - 33 of the spring Continuing Education brochure. For more information visit www.ucc.edu/noncredit, visit the Continuing Education department or call (908) 709-7600.
