CRANFORD – The Office of Continuing Education at Union County College is offering the Child Development Associate Certificate Program beginning February 2018.
The Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate is a competency-based, national credentialing program and a New Jersey licensing regulation that recognizes the CDA credential as equal to the Group Teacher title. This 120-hour certificate program may be used toward the educational requirements for the CDA.
Child Care: Professional Practices will teach participants how to provide quality child care through scheduling, room arrangement, positive guidance, field trip procedures, curriculum, observation and assessment. Part 1 of the two-part course will be held at the Cranford campus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings February 6 through March 8 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Part 2 of the course will begin on March 20. The cost of each course is $225.
Child Care: the Foundations is also being offered this semester. Participants will learn about the growth and development of children, general health care, nutrition, how to develop educational and play activities, and child safety standards. Part 1 of this two-part course will be held at the Cranford campus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from April 24 through May 24 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Part 2 of the course will begin on Tuesday, May 29. The cost of each course is $225.
