Dr. James Xu has served with distinction for more than 10 years as Union County College’s Associate Professor of Engineering and Physics. He’s the department’s Coordinator of Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering Technology. Dr. Xu brings to the classroom more than 20 years of experience as an engineer in mechanical systems and component design, 3D modeling, and Finite element analysis. His courses include 2D, 3D Computer-aided Design (CAD) and Manufacturing (CAM – 3D simulation) as well as Fluids Mechanics, Physics, Mathematics, and Online Physics. He says, “My primary goal is to provide our students with both industry and the academic perspectives. They’ll have the skills and the confidence to enter the engineering field right after they graduate or to transfer to a four-year university to complete their bachelor’s and master’s degrees.” Dr. Xu has a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering Machinery and both a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Union County College has a remarkable history as New Jersey’s first community college. We are known for excellence among regional colleges and universities.
