College Life Manager Rebecca May is the “go to” person for students and alumni. For students, she supports Dean Tammy Smith and the coaching staff for 11 intercollegiate sports, including the College’s new cross-country team. She also helps supervise the Student Government Association as well as student clubs and organizations. Ms. May says, “It’s very important for students to have creative opportunities outside of the classroom that allows for them to build leadership skills and confidence through activities such as the SGA, theatrical productions, various clubs, and athletics.” She is also the College’s liaison to the Alumni Association, where she is able to integrate Alumni activities with those of current students. One example of this was her having initiated annual Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Basketball alumni games to increase Alumni involvement in the College. Foremost, Ms. May understands how extracurricular activities help complement academics to promote the overall wellbeing of students. She says, “Student activities encourages retention, creates great opportunities for faculty, staff and students to work together, and leaves a lasting impression on the students.” Ms. May has bachelor’s degrees in Sport Management and Elementary Education from East Stroudsburg University.
