The Foundation has five distinct student success campaigns that are having a dramatic impact on our students.
Close the Gap – Seeing the growing achievement gap among our African-American students, four volunteers knew that something had to be done. Working with local governmental officials and community leadership they developed the Close The Gap Campaign to provide financial assistance to students approaching graduation as well as resources for other academic needs. This program has already had an impact on student success which has translated into nearly doubling the African American male graduation rate in one year. Inspire the Future – As one of New Jersey’s largest Hispanic serving institutions, UCNJ has over 4,000 students of Latin heritage. Over the past four years graduation rates have more than tripled, but the increase among our Latino students have not kept pace with the general populations. The Foundation’s Inspire the Future campaign will provide scholarships to support Hispanic students who are on track to graduate with a minimum GPA of 2.0. This fund aims to increase the graduation rates among our Hispanic students. For more information on this program please click here.
Operation Graduation – The Foundation’s Operation Graduation campaign was developed to financially support the efforts of the UCNJ strategic initiative to increase overall graduation rates. This fund will support multiple completion scholarships as well as programs and services designed to help students complete their degrees on time. Shaping our Future – Each year, because of the support from the Shaping Our Future Annual Campaign, the Union County College Foundation is able to offer scholarships to the College’s most deserving students and grant opportunities to faculty and staff for projects that enhance UCNJ’s educational programs. Contributors to the Shaping Our Future Campaign receive credit toward recognition levels on the Tree of Education, a beautiful cherry wood, copper and brass sculpture in the Richel Commons on the Cranford Campus. STEM Revolution – The STEM REVOLUTION campaign is designed to provide funding and support to ensure that UCNJ’s STEM division continues to provide the best programs and services to our students while investing in scholarships for student success. Women 100 Project – Considering the significant population of female students at the College, the Foundation and community leaders have developed the Women 100 Project. This fund will assist our female students and provide them endless opportunities for a successful future.
Our ultimate goal is to use funding to support and empower our female students through programming and mentorship. In the end, we hope to see a dramatic increase in the support offered to full and part-time female students at UCNJ. Our hope is to develop a network of empowered women for present times as well as for years to come. For more information on this program please click here.
