Community Colleges in Union and Bergen Receive a $2.6 Million “First In The World” Grant
For decades, the USA was number one in the world in the percentage of 25-34 year-olds with college degrees. Today we rank 14th in the world, as only 42 percent of that age group has an associate or bachelor’s degree.
Burke to speak at Union County College Alumni Association Author Series
The Union County College Alumni Association will be hosting an Author Series Event on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Roy Smith Theater at the Cranford Campus. Guest Speaker will be author Nancy Burke, and she will discuss her most recently published book, If I Could Paint the Moon Black. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
Freeholder Granados Kicked Off Hispanic Heritage Month Events at Union County College
Union County Board of Chosen Freeholder Sergio Granados joined Union County College President Margaret M. McMenamin to celebrate “Soy Yo – Celebrating Culture and Diversity” for Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 15.

 Meet Our People


Dr. Valerae Hurley

Dr. Valerae Hurley is an Associate Professor of History and a favorite among students since she joined Union in 2007. Former co-advisor for the History Club, Dr. Hurley has Ph.D. in Intellectual History from Drew University along with two master’s degrees (a M.A. in History from Monmouth University and a Master’s in Philosophy from Drew), a bachelor’s degree in Art History from Monmouth, and an associate degree in Art from Brookdale Community College.
