Transfer Scholarships

Many colleges offer transfer scholarships in addition to other forms of financial aid such as federal and state programs, institutional grants, and other scholarships.

A variety of transfer scholarships are available:

  • Some require a special application.
  • Others are automatically awarded based on the student’s GPA at the time of application.
  • Some scholarships are available to specific groups (e.g., Phi Theta Kappa members or students in certain majors).
  • Others may be based on academic achievement or financial need.

Transfer Services and the Financial Aid Office can provide more information about transfer scholarships.

Other scholarships may be awarded for:

  • Completion of an associate degree
  • A specified cumulative GPA
  • Service or leadership activities
  • Entry into a particular academic degree program

Additionally, there are many outside scholarships offered by companies, civic organizations, religious groups, advocacy organizations, and more.

Beware of Scholarship Scams

If you simply search online for scholarships, you may encounter fraudulent websites targeting high school and college students.
Valid, reputable scholarship search engines:

  1. Are free
  2. Do not guarantee awards
  3. Do not ask for sensitive personal information (e.g., Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, mother’s maiden name)
